SYN-Phon is a musical work created by Candaş Şişman, presented as a sound performance based on graphic notation. The piece was shown at Budapest Art Factory (BAF) and featured musicians such as Barabás Lőrinc on trumpet and Ölveti Mátyás on cello, with Candaş Şişman using electronics and objects to complement the performance.
The work explores the relationship between language and music, proposing that musical language offers greater freedom of expression compared with traditional verbal language. Şişman argues that art plays a crucial role in overcoming the limitations imposed by written language, enabling more expansive and intuitive communication. The graphic notation used in SYN-Phon serves as a tool to create a personal language that combines visual and sonic elements, fostering new forms of self-expression.
