The Holy Mountain (1973), directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky, is a surrealist film that combines elements of mysticism, symbolism, and social criticism. The film explores themes such as the illusion of reality, moral corruption, and the search for spiritual truth. Jodorowsky uses a rich iconography, including references to tarot, alchemy, and religion, to construct a narrative that transcends cinematic conventions. The images are often shocking and provocative, reflecting a critique of materialism and the alienation of contemporary society.
